My first experience of lives spent working with clay was in the West Country, it gave me a sense that making pots could be a way of life that is both enriching and balanced.

The past two years I have spent immersed in a diploma at Clay College in Stoke-on-Trent. Over this time I have developed my technical understanding and started to find a style of practise that works for me.

I feel a strong bond with nature which is reflected in my direct connection to the earth through clay. Throughout my work, I chase the feelings and asymmetries I find in objects discovered whilst out walking.

I am aiming for both a sculptural and functional balance in my work to which people can relate. Wood and soda firings echo the energy and immediacy of my pots. I enjoy having to read the flame and connect with the pace of the firings so that, at best, the qualities of clay and flame work together in the transformative space of the kiln, pulling those objects together.
